Inland transport

Container drayage & nationwide trucking

The last leg is where the clock costs money. We pull your container out of the terminal inside free time and get it to your facility — anywhere in the continental United States.

Overview

Free time is shorter than most importers think

A container discharged at a US terminal comes with a limited window of free time — often just three to five days — before demurrage begins. Miss it and charges accumulate daily, per container, on top of per-diem on the equipment itself. It is one of the fastest ways an otherwise profitable import turns thin.

Because we clear customs and arrange drayage as one operation, the appointment to pull your container is booked against the release date rather than after it. The truck is scheduled before the vessel arrives, not requested once storage has already started.

From the terminal we deliver anywhere in the 48 continental states, matching the equipment to your site — dock-height delivery, liftgate for facilities without a dock, or a drop trailer if your team needs to unload on its own schedule.

Questions

Trucking & Drayage FAQ

Demurrage is a daily charge that starts once a container has sat at the terminal beyond its free time — usually three to five days after discharge. We avoid it by clearing customs pre-arrival and booking the drayage appointment against the release date, so the container moves as soon as it becomes available rather than after storage has already begun.

Our service is built for commercial delivery. Residential and limited-access sites are possible but need to be flagged at quote stage so we can arrange suitable equipment and confirm access — a 40ft container and tractor needs considerable room to manoeuvre and turn.

Drop-and-pick means the trailer is left at your facility and collected later, rather than the driver waiting during a live unload. It suits teams that cannot commit to a fixed unload window or need more than about two hours. There is usually a small fee, but it removes driver detention charges, which are often higher.

Yes. FBA deliveries need a booked appointment and specific labelling and pallet standards. Tell us the destination fulfilment centre at quote stage and we will schedule the delivery window and confirm the requirements with you before the container ships.
