Clearance & compliance

US customs brokerage for China imports

Most import delays are paperwork, not ports. We file your entry correctly and ahead of arrival, so your container clears on schedule and demurrage never starts counting.

Overview

Clearance is a deadline, not a step

Customs is where importers lose the most money without ever seeing a line item for it. An entry filed late, a tariff code applied loosely, an ISF submitted after the 24-hour window — each one turns into storage charges, per diem on the container, or a CBP examination that adds a week.

We treat clearance as a deadline that is met before the vessel arrives, not a task that begins when it docks. Your ISF goes in inside the window. Your classification is confirmed at quote stage, not argued about at the port. Your entry is submitted early so release lands the day the container is available.

Because we handle the freight as well as the brokerage, nothing gets lost between two vendors — the team filing your entry is the team that booked your container.

COMPLIANT FILINGS

What's included

Everything covered under customs brokerage

ISF (10+2) filing

Importer Security Filing submitted inside the mandatory 24-hour pre-loading window, avoiding the penalties and holds that late filings trigger.

HTS classification

Correct tariff code determined before you book, so your duty estimate is accurate and your entry doesn't invite a CBP review.

Duty & tariff calculation

Section 301 tariffs, ad valorem duty, merchandise processing and harbor maintenance fees calculated and included in your landed cost quote.

Entry submission

Formal entry filed with CBP ahead of vessel arrival so release is granted as soon as the container is discharged.

Customs bonds

Single-entry or continuous bonds arranged as required. If you import regularly, a continuous bond is usually the cheaper route and we'll say so.

CBP correspondence

If a request for information, a hold or an exam comes back, we respond to it directly and keep you informed rather than forwarding you the notice.

02

Security filing submitted within the 24-hour window before the container loads in China.

03

Submit entry pre-arrival

Formal CBP entry filed ahead of the vessel so release is not waiting on paperwork.

04

Release & handoff

Duties paid, cargo released, and the container handed straight to our drayage team.

Questions

Customs Brokerage FAQ

Yes. ORX International is fully licensed and insured through our strategic logistics partners, ensuring full compliance with international shipping and US import regulations.

Exams are a normal part of importing and are sometimes random. If yours is selected, we manage the process directly with CBP, arrange the exam, respond to any information requests and keep you updated with expected release timing and any associated costs. You will not be left to interpret a CBP notice on your own.

Every formal entry into the US requires a bond. You can use a single-entry bond per shipment or a continuous bond that covers a full year. If you import more than roughly three or four containers annually, a continuous bond usually costs less overall — we’ll tell you which applies to your volume.

Duty is based on your product’s HTS classification and declared customs value, plus any applicable Section 301 tariffs on Chinese-origin goods, merchandise processing fee and harbor maintenance fee. We calculate all of it at quote stage so it appears in your landed cost rather than as a surprise later.
